Usage statistics, tracking & marketing

In common with the majority of web sites, we use Google Analytics to monitor, analyze and report on usage of our website.

We have installed Google's JavaScript code on our pages to monitor website visitors. This code runs in your browser and sends information about your interactions with skot.be to Google, such as the addresses of pages you visit and how long you spend on them, as well as some technical parameters such as what browser you are using, what device and operating system you have and what country you are connecting from.

In turn Google provides us with aggregate reports that we can use to spot trends in usage and technology and thus improve the services we offer.

We have a legitimate interest to improve skot.be, and we have balanced this interest against the interests of the individuals by:

  • Ensuring that user IP addresses are anonymized, by removing the final section of the address.
  • Auditing our data collection to ensure that no other personally identifiable information (such as email addresses or user identifiers) is collected by Google.
  • Requesting Google to automatically delete information pertaining to individual visits after 14 months (the shortest retention period they offer).

Almost every commercial website uses Google Analytics or other comparable software to track user behaviour, and we believe that users have a reasonable expectation that this information will be processed.

Google is committed to complying with all relevant privacy and data protection laws. You can opt out from Google Analytics by clicking here to install the Opt-out Browser Add-on
